The color is just so right.
I really want to build a 914/6 GT knock off. Maybe throw a 3.2 from a 911 into it.

Metallic Alaskan Blue is always the answer. Always

Every time I see the 914 it gets better and better looking.

I think a 914 will be the next acquisition. Either that or an Alfa Spyder.

I'd much rather have a 914. They're so hard to find nowadays, however. Not a short time ago they were a dime a dozen.

Lol, nah I can find em no problem, When they were dirt cheap all the mexicans out here bought em up cuz "I go to America now I have Porsche"... Theres a dozen out this was for sale around 5 - 7k in various conditions.

This is conclusive proof that being tall can suck.

Nah. I'm 6'0 and I can 'fit' in a 914. I have also fit in Miatas, BMW Z series, and Lotus Elige's

6'5" and 6'0" is a biiiiiiiiiiiiiggggggggg difference when it comes to cars I've found.
I can't even fit in the current Cayman/Boxster (which sucks to say the least).
Edit: I meant to add I am honestly jealous that you can fit.

True, I would not fit in many things if I had an extra 5 inches to duck.

Yeah, I'm even so it's two and a half each way which rarely leaves me an out. My dad is same height but all 5" over 6' is in the legs so he can actually sit in all those cars with lots of seat travel (like the NSX, whereas I'd need the Dali seat cushion and to learn to deal with it).
Side note: What's the over/under on how long it takes someone to talk about "the extra inches we're packing"?

I'm in NY so any one that pops up is usually in perfect condition or rusted to bits.

Height isn't really an issue. tons of leg room with no engine up front. The size constraint is that if you have wide feet, the gas pedal is too close to the center console. So you'll have to unscrew it and remove it. That or get super thin shoes.

Head room isn't an issue in the 914? I've always loved them and somewhat relegated it to the place for other cars of that size I shouldn't tempt myself with.
And now we come to the shoe size issue.... Damnit, I cannot catch a break.

Italian cars were made for me. I'm built like a gorilla. Long arms and torso, stubby legs. Hairy too! Do not fit in a 914.
No offense to any Italians out there.

Who drives with the top on?
As for the center console, the gauges don't mean much. Clock, volts and engine temp (which has no units, so figure out how useful that is) are small and not missed. With it in place its kinda tight, but not impossible, but with only 2 stock speaker, the console became a popular place to mount a couple more speakers taking up valuable space.
I don't know how to judge if you could fit. I would recommend looking up one in hemmings, to test sit or be nice to the owner the next one you see at a car show.
